Part: Thanksgiving

This year was not a Miller year for Thanksgiving, so Toni & Aaron and Kaci & Brian ate with their other families.  With Kathy down for the count, that left myself, Tera, and Keri in charge of Thanksgiving dinner!  I have never done Thanksgiving dinner before.  In fact, since I was always the one coming from out of town, I've never really been responsible for any part of Thanksgiving dinner at all!  I don't know how that happened.  So 2 days before Thanksgiving I realized I was going to need to step up, and us girls sat down and put together a menu, got the shopping done, and in the end, we pulled it off (if I say so myself).  All Thanksgiving day we were on a pretty strict schedule but everything got done and it was yummy and I kind of was on an adeneline rush when the whole thing was over.  Luckily Kathy was able to talk us through some of the harder aspects (okay, the turkey).

We stopped to take a picture once the appetizers were out.  I don't know why we didn't take a picture of all the finished food though.

For appetizers we had deviled eggs, spinach dip, cheeseball and crackers, shrimp coctail, and olives.

Here we are - the dinner.

The kid's table.
On the menu was brined turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cooked carrots, cranberry sauce, green beans, and rolls.  For dessert we made banana cream pie, and apple struesel pie, and we bought a pumpkin pie.  Am I forgetting anything?  Anyway, it was a lot of food and it all turned out pretty good.  I kept telling Kyle beforehand, "This can't count as my first Thanksgiving that I'm responsible for!  I haven't researched any recipes or menu ideas or anything!"  But I'll take it with Tera and Keri.  Not bad for second string first timers.
